From Johannesburg/Pretoria (total of 250km / 3 hours by car):

N1 North towards Polokwane/Pietersburg, turn off at Modimolle/Nijlstoom onto R33. Pass through Modimolle, follow the R33 towards Vaalwater.

Pass through Vaalwater, passed the Zeederberg Spar on your left, the R33 will become the R517.  Approximately 7km passed the Spar, turn left onto dirt towards Bakkers Pass and Kololo Lodge. You will pass through the Greater Marakele Security Cluster check point and carry on straight for another 38km.

At the T-junction you will see a statue of a White Brahman bull on your right, turn right at the T-junction and the Syringa Sands gate is the first gate on your left.

Vaalwater is a quaint little town, last place to buy petrol, airtime and groceries. Also a good place to stop for brunch or lunch, try the venison burger at Seringa Cafe
